About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"To fill the unforgiving minute with sixty seconds' worth of distance run"

ABOUT ME

Well, I like meeting new people though I think that nothing can replace old friends who can share joys and sorrows of life with you... Communication is a key word in my life and people never stop surprising me (of course, mostly in positive way :) )

I like traveling, but as it is difficult to travel much at the moment I would like to be more active in CS... If you can't go to see the world, why not invite the world here? Fortunately thanks to CS it is possible!

There are a lot of other things which I like and some which I dislike... but we can talk about it when we meet :)

PHILOSOPHY

If something or somebody is yours, he/she/it will never leave you...But if it left you, it/he/she never belonged to you.

Everything, that happens, is all to the best...

Always do what you are afraid of doing.

Never say never...

The sky is the only limit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been active in CS since 2006. There were times when I surfed more than hosted and vice verse.
Now, 8 years later, still love the project and the whole idea even if CS has changed a lot.

Besides I have met a lot of extremely interesting people through CS.

So you are welcome to my place, but if I can't host you for some reason, you're welcome to meet me for a drink and chat.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It has been positive up till now. I agree with the saying that after getting to know CS-project, your life won't be the same as before...

Interests

I'm interested in languages, cultures, national cuisines, psychology, economics, music, literature, theater, dancing and many other things. It is always exciting to expand your knowledge about the world!

Music, Movies, and Books

"Suden Vuosi" is my favourite Finnish movie for some reason and I also love the book with the same name :)

"My name is Khan" is also worthy mentioning here. The name is not attractive at all, but I didn't regret I invested my time into watching it.

Among other movies I like are "Beautiful Mind", "Espiral", "The Fountain", "Requiem For The Dream", "Serendipity", "One Day"...

I listen to different music a lot, but Russian folk band "Melnitsa" can be mentioned as one of my favorite as I come back to their music from time to time at least for the last 3 years. The Beatles can be mentioned as another band I really like.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done bungee jumping, tried out sky diving, have been to lots of different places, amazing and not, but mostly love small amazing things every day brings: one of the moments I really admire is when somebody start smiling in response to your smile...

Another one is meeting absolutely average (not interesting at first glance) person, who turns out to be like an artichoke. You take out layer after layer and find amazing very unique personality. It might be the opposite as well: you meet a very unique personality and after taking out all the layers there is a very average person. If you have experienced that, you definitely know what I am talking about.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would like to learn Finnish language and speak it as Finnish people do... (It was written three years ago and I can happily report that the mission has been (almost) completed, so I picked up a new language challenge, Dutch, to work on) :) My other to learn-list is too long to put it here.

I like cooking and especially cooking together, so if you can teach me how to cook anything from your national cuisine, it would be great! (Though it is not a must of course!)

What I can teach? I guess I can teach anything if I know it=)) But mostly Russian/Finnish language and some "specific knowledge" about Russian/Finnish culture.

Countries I’ve Visited

Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Sweden, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
