About Me

**** PLEASE READ MY PROFILE FIRST BEFORE SENDING A CS REQUEST ***

I was born and raised in the Philippines but moved to Tokyo 16 years ago so I can share what I know about my two home countries. I work in IT so my schedule can be unpredictable at times . I can only accept CS requests close to the arrival date to avoid having to cancel on anyone at the last minute.

I also tend to go out of the country every few months and forget to update my status. I get a lot of CS requests and messages so please do not take offense if I reply late (or not at all, sorry!) to yours. If time permits, I would definitely go and have dinner with my guests or go with them to see the sights. I like answering questions about Tokyo/Japan or the Philippines, it helps to test my knowledge of my locale once in a while, so feel free to ask as many questions as you need. I honestly think I am a good host in general (and BTW, I did not pay those people who gave me glowing references, they are just so nice). If you honestly think you are a good guest then feel free to drop me a message or a couch request. :)

For those searching for a couch: Kindly do not send me a message with just the dates you'd be in Tokyo and asking me if I can host you. You are asking someone to welcome a complete stranger into their home. It won't hurt to put a bit of effort in reading my profile and telling me something about yourself and why you are worth the the chance to host. If your CS request/message is all about the accommodation, I will decline your request.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have met quite a few amazing folks through CouchSurfing and I believe it's a wonderful way of sowing positivity in the world.

Interests

reading, listening to music, broadway musicals, watching movies/tv shows, baking, cooking (aka experimenting with) new dishes, eating, traveling, sleeping, photography, dogs and cats, archery, karaoke, long conversations over food and drinks, couchsurfing!

Music, Movies, and Books

Harry Potter, Wheel of Time, Song of Ice and Fire, LoTR (books and movies), Inception, Avatar, Shawshank Redemption, Kite Runner, The Bucket List, Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight, Ingrid Michaelson, Alanis Morissette, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, Dashboard Confessional, Sarah McLachlan, Joshua Radin, Lisa Loeb, Secondhand Serenade, Beatles, Mae, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Florence and the Machine

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing thing I have done: Climbing Mount Fuji. As I am not much of a mountaineering person, I absolutely did not know what I was getting myself into. But I survived (!) so this has to be it.

Amazing thing I have seen: two little penguins mating amongst the rocks of Wellington harbor. They didn't even stop when a bunch of us stopped to take pictures! One of the locals was right, I have the best NZ souvenir ever: penguin porn!

Teach, Learn, Share

Tokyo can be overwhelming for first-timers, I can help you navigate your way around and suggest points of interest in the city that are generally not in tourist guides. I can teach you some useful Japanese expressions you can memorize to impress the locals :) Or write down your destination in Japanese if you intend to hitchhike your way around. I would also love to hear about any tips you might want to share on places you have been to.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories about my travels and the wonderful people I have met in CouchSurfing. It's always my personal tradition to share food from my home countries. I can help out with the dishes or any other household chores. And definitely a couch when it's their turn to visit my part of the world.
